BALLET
Ballet technique is the fundamental building block of dance. It is through ballet barre
that dancers learn correct body placement, strengthen and lengthen muscles, and increase flexibility.
Pointe work
is an advance form of ballet technique and is only taught to dancers who have earned a skill level appropriate to this more
stringent form of dance.
JAZZ
Unbeknownst to most people, Jazz
dance is a form of ballet using the same muscle group, terms, and leaps. In Jazz the legs are held in the parallel
position and the arms are frequently held in an a more angular variation.
Many dancers, especially the pre-teen
group enjoy jazz class never knowing they are actually studying ballet.

TAP
Tap dance instruction uses simple rhythms to gradually build more and more complex sounds.
Tap dance instruction aids in the development of body coodination and rhythm. It also helps the student "learn on his/her
feet." Modern & Contemporary
Modern and Contemporary
dance both develop personal creativity. By allowing us to borrow from all forms of dance we can greatly enhance the method
by which we express ourselves. Dancers of this art form enjoy a freedom of movement unavailable in other studies.

Once Upon A Dance Class
Children love playing make believe and at Centre Stage we believe that strong imaginations contribute
to a person's success.
During the summer months this class will explore the storybook world through a child's
imagination.
Each week we read a fairytale and, using small props and costumes accessories, make our story come
to life! The truth is, we use dance steps, pantomime, songs, anything we can find to recreate
our tale - it's tons of fun!
Remember, dance class is not just for princesses! What would
a fairytale be without a handsome prince, a crafty ole fox, or a knight in shining armor?
This course is limited
to children ages four to six years.
