Our Instructors
WENDY RUE is the director and primary instructor at Centre Stage Studios.  Miss Wendy has been classically trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, and acrobats.  She is also a student of tap and modern techniques.

Born in California and raised in Springfield, Illinois, Miss Wendy studied dance under Vitina Sansone, Sansone's School of Dance. She was also a member of the Copper Coin Ballet Company (now known as the Springfield Ballet Company). A few of the ballets to her credit include Sleeping Beauty, the Nutcracker, and Swan Lake.

She has been a dance instructor for over twelve years and furthers her own dance education through workshops and conferences annually. Miss Wendy has a bachelor of arts degree from William Woods College, Fulton, MO.

FEEL GOOD

Hip Hop routine choreographer Lauren Rue

LAUREN RUE is the eldest daughter of Miss Wendy and has learned at her mother's tutu respect for the art.  Miss Lauren was born and raised in Mt Vernon. She studied dance with Sonya's Gotta Dance Studio, formerly of Mt Vernon, with Dance Station of O'Fallon, with MVTHS Rockin' Rams, with Northern Illinois University of Dekalb, and with Centre Stage Studios. Of course she also jumps at every chance she gets to take master courses under world-known instructors such as Mia Michaels, Sonja Hayek, Chris Judd, and Wade Robinson. Her studies have included ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and modern dance techniques.

Lauren's primary responsibilities at Centre Stage include tap, jazz, and contemporary instruction for the more advanced students. She is known for her kooky off-beat sense of humor, her creativity, and her extreme warm-up exercises.

MICHELLE RUE is the younger daughter of Miss Wendy and lends a hand at the studio when she is home. Miss Michelle has been taking dance non-stop since the age of seven! It must be said that tap is her love above all other forms of dance but she is also well-versed in ballet, pointe, and modern techniques. Miss Michelle has taken instruction from Sonya's Gotta Dance Studio, formerly of Mt. Vernon; Dance Station of O'Fallon; Centre Stage Studios; and Southeast Missouri State University. Michelle is currently living in Utah leading adventurers on rock climbing and hiking expeditions. She misses her tap shoes dearly but caught between a rock (Ha Ha) and a tap shoe - she would rather be employed. Michelle has asked that her shoes be sent to her so that she can dance in her off hours.  We expect her to re-join classes if not our faculty whenever she is home to visit.

RACHEL HUNSELL is spending the summer of 2011 exploring the dance community from another angle - that of a studio director.  Rachel, a student of Southeast Missouri State University, will be Junior Director and in charge of our summer program.

Her dancing "career" began at very young age with Sonya's Gotta Dance Studio, Mt Vernon & later Nashville. It was at the Mt Vernon facility that she first met Miss Wendy who placed Rachel in her first REAL Ballet. (she was an adorable parrot)  Rachel was one of Centre Stages' first pupils and continued with our studio throughout her Mt Vernon dance studies. Her dance background is well-rounded and includes Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, and Contemporary techniques. In addition she has studied choreography principals with Miss Wendy and, as a college sophomore, submitted AND STAGED a piece in the SEMO Fall Dance Festival.
