The recital contracts are all out and the date has been set for June 2nd, 2012.  The venue is Kaskaskia College and the curtain will rise at 6:30 p.m.

Dress rehearsal will also be at the KC and is set for THURSDAY, May 31st at 6:00 p.m.

Gary Janello will be doing the recital videos for us again this year!

We have come to that time of year when we have to officially close registration to any new students.  Dancers interested in the programs at Centre Stage are invited to call the studio at 244-3710 for further information.  Thank you.

While we celebrate the staging of "A Star Is Born" I want to celebrate ALL my stars.  You were all fantastic back-stage, did great with your dances, and helped other children by raising a whopping $1,181!!!  

Using your talents for the benefit of others is a great and wonderful thing to do. I admire each and every one of you.

We had a great dress rehearsal this evening for our benefit performance.  A Star Is Born will take the Centralia Cultural Society's stage at 4 p.m. THIS Saturday!

No classes Wednesday (tomorrow)!! We'll see everyone between 3-3:30 on Saturday.  Please double-check your costumes, shoes and pocketbooks before leaving home.

Remember, this is a charitable benefit.  We will have a bake sale and be collecting donations at the door as you come in AND as you leave.

Centre Stage Studios' annual benefit performance will feature the Christmas Story told as only dancers can tell it.  "A Star Is Born" will be stage at 4 p.m. on November 26th at the Centralia Cultural Society on the corners of Pleasant and Rexford Streets.

Donations collected during the performance will go directly and IN FULL to local children's charities.

The public is welcome to join us for this celebration or art, giving, and Christmas spirit.

In "honor" of Halloween Centre Stage will not hold dance classes on the 31st EXCEPT Miss Wendy' 4:30 Elementary class.  Those lucky dancers will be finished by 5:30 and have plenty of trick or treat time left.

All other classes will take a "snow day" so that they don't miss one of childhood's favorite nights.

Congratulations and thank you to the girls and boys who participated in yesterday's parade for the studio. For those who couldn't make it: they did a great job and won the "Citizen's Choice" trophy. It will be on display in the waiting room this week. Thanks again to all the dancers, brothers and parents

Parents:  Please remember that Centre Stage Studios' annual garage sale begins on the first day of class!

If you have any outgrown dance shoes or apparel that you would like to sell please bring it marked and on a hanger if necessary to your first class.  Tap, Ballet and Jazz shoes are always being sought so dig into those dance bags and have your dancer try on last year's shoes...if they don't fit SELL them to help defray the cost of a new pair!

Items should be clean and in good overall shape.  Please mark them with your name and the amount of price you would like to receive for them.

All items will be displayed in the entrance hall of our studio.  The sooner you bring your item in the better chance you have of selling them.

Our first classes begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6th.  The studio doors will open at 4 p.m.

Due to an overwhelming response to our preschool program we are adding an additional "Introduction to Movement" dance class for children 3 & 4 years of age.

This class is designed to introduce the young student to dance by use of imaginary friends, silly songs, and general goofiness.

Those interested should contact Wendy directly at her home, 755-9310.

Our finalized course schedule has now been set - IN STONE (hah).  We will be calling those with adjustments but please double-check your class on our schedule page just in case!

I am anxious to get started and eager to see all of your smiling faces. -W

Fall registration is underway and already we have filled the Tuesday Preschool class! Another Preschool class is open on Thursday and it still has a few spots left so, if you have a preschooler interested in dance, please contact me as soon as possible to avoid being wait-listed.

For our older Elementary dancers:  If you will re-check the schedule you will notice that we have fixed a conflict between Elem Tap and Elem Ballet so now you can take them both!

Those interested in Int/Adv Modern should contact Wendy to discuss the best options for scheduling.

The dance course schedule for the Fall Semester, 2011 has been posted to our website and course eligibility forms are in the mail!

NEWthis year:  We are offering a NON-performing class for children ages 5-7 years old that focuses on developing their creativity.  This class runs in 8 week increments and utilizes stories, art, drama, dance and song to get the creative juices flowing.  YES, you can color outside the lines!!!

The deadline for ordering a recital DVD or logo T-shirt is fast approaching.

I will be placing the final orders on Friday, June 10th.  If you would like a DVD, an autograph back T-shirt, or a stuffed animal sporting a recital logo T then please let me know via the studio's facebook page or the studio answering machine by NOON on that date.

What an absolutely wonderful group of dancers we have at Centre Stage! 

The recital shows went smoothly.  The dancers did their best.  Overall it was one of our best shows EVER and I couldn't have been more proud than I was standing on stage last night sharing the final bow with you.

Thank you Lisa Lamar for stepping in at the ticket table - you're a godsend. Thanks to Luz, Rocky, Hunter, Mike, Art, Gary, Anna, Karen, Nancy, Rachel, Maria, Christi, Lauren and whoever I may have temporarily forgotten for being the indispensable cogs making the recital wheels turn!

Thank you parents for allowing us to teach your children.

Using tap, ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary techniques Centre Stage Studios will take a its audience into the realm of our imaginations during our annual spring recital June 4th at the Centralia Cultural Society.  Two shows are being staged for your convenience: the matinee at 1 p.m. and an evening show at 6:30 p.m.

Ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. May 28th at Centre Stage, 323 S. 11th Street, Mt. Vernon.  The ticket "booth" will close at 1 p.m. but tickets will be available for purchase the evenings of Monday, May 30 through Wednesday, June 1st.  Seating is general admission and cost is $3 per ticket. The performance is open to the public but due to the limited nature of available seating advance ticket purchase is required.

A reminder to our students:  Dress rehearsal will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 2nd.

The girls have put together a wonderful assortment of dance classes for you to enjoy.  You can explore your personal creativity, discover the history behind your tap or modern dance style, or take a skills course to further your dance education.

On behalf of the Cultural Society's Art in Education Program and the Mt Vernon Girl Scout Little House i would like to thank the dancers and families from Centre Stage Studios.  The 3rd annual Benefit Performance raised $1,016.27 and was performed in front of a full house.

You are all great people and we are truly blessed to count you among our friends.

Centre Stage Dance Studios' annual Christmas benefit program is tentatively scheduled to be performed on Sunday, Nov. 28th at the Centralia Cultural Society facility.  This year's story will revolve around the Christmas classic "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and will include tap, jazz, ballet and modern dance styles.

As usual, admission to the performance is free.  Donations will be sought and ALL (as in 100%) monies raised will be donated to local charities which benefit our Southern Illinois children.
